FAQ

What are your rates?

I charge $95 per session. Sessions usually last about one hour and fifteen minutes. I offer a sliding scale for clients who are having problems paying the full rate.

Do you take insurance?

I don’t take insurance, but I will provide you with an detailed invoice with a work description and an appropriate insurance code that you can use to get reimbursement from your insurance company, provided you have coverage. (If your plan covers massage it will probably cover Rolfing.)

How many Rolfing sessions are optimal?

Of course everyone is different so there is no way to know for sure. Five to ten is a good guess, but it’s just a guess. This is something we will talk about from the outset, when we will establish some reasonable goals and evaluate progress together as we go along. Rolfers often organize their work according to a series of ten sessions, but this just serves as a loose framework and not a commitment you need to make before starting. I give clients movement “homework” and those who do their homework usually make progress quicker.

What do I wear to a Rolfing session?

Underwear is best (bra and underwear for women.) If you are not comfortable in your underwear, that’s no problem – many clients wear gym shorts or jog bras.

What is the difference between Rolfing and massage?

Massage is a broad term that refers to many styles of bodywork. The goal in massage is often just to relax and feel better for a day, and there is often not a long term plan for really changing movement patterns. Rolfing is meant to make some deep and lasting changes in the way you move. The intention is to teach you to feel better in your body without anyone else’s help!
