Life is Movement

rolfing movementThe quality of your movement has a huge impact on the quality of your life. This is obvious in sport and exercise, but it remains true for every other aspect of your existence, from sitting at a computer, to driving a car, to walking the dog, to breathing or sleeping.

In fact, movement even affects your thinking and feeling, because the parts of your brain that move your body are intimately involved in processing thoughts and emotions. It’s all connected, and movement can therefore be a good “handle” to hold parts of your life that are less tangible.

Life is a Sport

We are all athletes whether we know it or not. For example, sitting at a computer is a demanding physical activity that many people are not “fit” to perform. Life is a physical game, and you can learn to play the game better, prevent injury, and enjoy it more by learning better movement.

Practicing Better Movement

Rolfing will help teach you to move with greater efficiency and coordination. Practicing movement exercises at home can take this progress further and maintain it. For example, a computer user may do some simple exercises to learn better use of the head, pelvis and shoulders while typing.  A runner may benefit from exercises to improve coordination in the feet and hips.

My Movement Training

I have extensive experience and training in using simple coordination exercises to improve performance and reduce pain. For example, I am a certified Feldenkrais awareness through movement teacher and a Level Four Z-Health Movement Trainer. I have recorded various audio lessons based on the Feldenkrais Method that I will provide to clients free of charge.

If you have any further questions about how movement training can help you get out of pain and perform better, please contact me for a FREE consultation. I love talking about this stuff. Or visit my blog where I have written extensively on these subjects.
